Community Outreach

Hampton Roads Ecumenical Lodgings and Provisions (H.E.L.P.)

Since 1982, congregations in Hampton have cooperated to offer assistance to needy families in three areas: food, shelter, and financial assistance. Gloria Dei is an active partner of H.E.L.P.

ELCA World Hunger

This program improves the lives of people in need in the United States and around the world by providing immediate relief for people affected by chronic hunger and poverty, assisting whole communities through long-term, sustainable development to help alleviate poverty, advocating for justice by changing laws and systems, and educating members of the ELCA in awareness of issues relating to hunger, poverty and justice.

Lutheran Disaster Response

This program is a cooperative ministry that assists in meeting human needs following a federally declared disaster.

Lutheran World Relief

This agency targets its development work on communities where poverty, hunger, malnutrition, unemployment, illness, short life expectancy, high infant mortality, and lack of education opportunities are widespread.

Sunrise House

A medical adult day care service for the Virginia Peninsula, Sunrise House offers families a faith-based, loving environment which provides caregivers and their families a chance at maintaining some sense of balance in their lives. For the adult who requires personal care and professional assistance with medical needs, but is not yet in need of 24-hour care, we can help.
